When there were monsters in my closet, and every time I skinned my knee.
I’d turn around… and again, she was there to comfort me.

And she would take my hand and tell me story. Said I didn’t have to worry…
‘cause she was there and everything’s alright.

She said “someday you’ll grow to be a man and I’ll still be there to hold your hand ‘cause you know I’ll always be right by your side.”

She said “you know if you need me, I’ll be there for you…And you know that I love you and there’s nothing I won’t do…

From Junior High to Little League
To every little thing that ever bothered me
She was always there to make it be OK.

And the first girl that ever broke my heart
Just when I thought that it would fall apart
She held me in her arms and it went away

And as I grew she knew someday, That I would have to go away, But she said somehow she’d always stay by my side.
And now in my darkest hour of need, I recall what she said to me That last time that I drove off in the night…
